Leading Division A—five areas, dozens of clubs, one shared goal
Annette Roberson serves as Division A Director, one of the key leadership roles in Toastmasters. Division A is made up of five areas, and Annette works directly with the Area Directors who look after each of them, so that every club and member in the division gets the support they need to grow.
What a Division Director does
A division can include up to 30 clubs and several hundred members and leaders. As Division Director, Annette oversees how the division runs day to day and works closely with the wider District Leadership Team, helping to shape the District Success Plan and the district’s incentive programs.
The role calls on a wide range of leadership skills:
- Keeping an eye on the health of a large organization and spotting challenges before they become problems
- Leading, supporting and guiding a team of Area Directors as they serve their clubs
- Creating and carrying out a Division Success Plan that aims for excellence at every level
It is volunteer leadership at its most practical—the kind of work that keeps clubs thriving, so members can keep finding their voices.
